Assateague Island Painting, Psalm 119:15-16

Assateague Island Painting

This painting is of a wild horse on Assateague Island, calmly looking out over the ocean's horizon. It was around this time of year, two years ago, when we were there to celebrate my son's birthday. Late spring is a beautiful time of year to visit this unique island on Maryland's eastern shore!

From a distance down the long beach, we saw this horse at the water's edge. Realizing the spontaneity of the moment and that it could soon pass, I took off running with my camera to capture the scene! As if it knew that I (and others) wanted a photo, the horse stood there still for a good 20 minutes, undisturbed by anything, keeping its meditative posture.

The painting is accompanied by scripture from Psalm 119:15-16 (NIV translation):

"I meditate on your precepts
and consider your ways.
I delight in your decrees;
I will not neglect your word."
